QFI (Qualified Foreign Investor) is a person who is non-resident investors, other than SEBI registered FIIs and SEBI registered FVCIs, who meet the KYC requirements of SEBI. QFI can be an individuals, groups or associations


Growth story of India has attracted many foreign investors in recent years; Govt of India is also taken steps to liberalize the investment route for foreign investors for their direct exposure to Indian Equity market. They have initiated the step in the budget 2011-12 announcement and allowed QFIs to invest in rupee denominated units of domestic Mutual Funds. Further in Jan2012 Government of India issued a press note, and opened the window for Qualified Foreign Investors (QFIs) to directly invest in the equity shares market of India. It will be beneficial for small individual foreign investors, Pension funds, corporate and other parties who earlier use to go for hectic process of Institutional Investment (FII/FVCI) / sub account route or FDI route.
