India's Exports during May, 2011 were valued at US $ 25941.28 million (Rs. 116488.01 crore) which was 56.93 per cent higher in Dollar terms (53.82 per cent higher in Rupee terms) than the level of US $ 16530.85 million (Rs. 75730.31 crore) during May, 2010. Cumulative value of exports for the period April-May 2011 -12 was US $ 49790.60 million (Rs 222307.44 crore) as against US $ 34272.98 million (Rs154681.89 crore) registering a growth of 45.28 per cent in Dollar terms and 43.72 per cent in Rupee terms over the same period last year.India's Imports during May, 2011 were valued at US $ 40906.95 million (Rs.183690.60 crore) representing a growth of 54.08 per cent in Dollar terms (51.03 per cent in Rupee terms) over the level of imports valued at US $ 26549.51 million ( Rs. 121627.30 crore) in May, 2010. Cumulative value of imports for the period April-May, 2011-12 was US $ 73741.31 million (Rs. 329376.66 crore) as against US $ 55319.57 million (Rs. 249652.61 crore) registering a growth of 33.30 per cent in Dollar terms and 31.93 per cent in Rupee terms over the same period last year.
Oil imports during May, 2011 were valued at US $ 10161.0 million which was 18.57 per cent higher than oil imports valued at US $ 8570.0 million in the corresponding period last year. Oil imports during April-May, 2011-12 were valued at US$ 20347.0 million which was 12.89 per cent higher than the oil imports of US $ 18024.0 million in the corresponding period last year.
Non-oil imports during May, 2011 were estimated at US $ 30745.8 million which was 71.0 per cent higher than non-oil imports of US $ 17979.5 million in May, 2010. Non-oil imports during April - May, 2011-12 were valued at US$ 53394.2 million which was 43.17 per cent higher than the level of such imports valued at US$ 37295.5 million in April - May, 2010-11.
The trade deficit for April - May, 2011-12 was estimated at US $ 23950.71 million which was lower than the deficit of US $ 21046.59 million during April -May, 2010-11.
