- Product Description : BARSAAT " is an essay on love......."And what is love?" asks Pran of Gopal.
"It is a song of the elements," says Gopal; "of the wind that is free and unfettered, the springs that is gay, the waves of the river that pass playfully on and never turns back. It is when you enjoy, laugh and forget, and go ahead with another adventure without looking back..." But Pran shakes his head sadly. Love, he believes, is the unflinching devotion of the moth for the flame; it is a craving that consumes the soul. Every lover, Pran is convinced, must go deep into the depths of tears to find unique pearls! Underlining the arguments of the two friends is the clash of the material and the spiritual ideologies. One says beauty is evanescent : it will fade out. The other says love is immortal : it will endure for ever. One says life is short : enjoy it to the fullest. For the other sacrifice is love. Nobody knows when this argument started. This argument between the two friends is decided by two uneducated girls who have been reared in the lap of Nature : whose souls are lofty as the towering peaks of the mountains, whose bodies are blessed with the virginity of the snow peaks. Neela and Reshma respectively turn an agnostic into a worshipper and a worshipper into God. But - life is a bubble : and if only man could conquer death! "Sacrifice in love alone is a triumph over death," says Pran to perplexed Gopal. "What did Ranjha get but a cold grave? What was Mahiwal s Reward? The corpse of Sohni! But, they have made love immortal. They lighted the path of the subsequent generations of lovers with the effulgent flame of love. They taught man the meaning of love! "Barsaat" is a story of songs. It is a story of vigils and the story of love. In October(Dussera) 1948 Raj performed the muhurat of his second film Barsaat.
