Essar Shipping & Logistics spurted 4.98% to Rs 81.20. The scrip topped gainers in BSE's 'A' group.
National Aluminium Company jumped 4.58% to Rs 403.90. It was the second biggest gainer in A group. The company has reportedly slashed aluminium prices by Rs 4,000 a tonne to match international prices.
Some auto shares gained on softening inflation and reduced risk of further monetary policy action. Maruti Suzuki India advanced 3.61% to Rs 703.70 and was the third biggest gainer in A group. Bajaj Auto rose 2.66% to Rs 633.75 and was the fifth biggest gainer in A group.
Steel Authority of India surged 3.10% to Rs 139.90. It was the fourth biggest gainer in A group.
