Oil Minister Murli Deora on Monday (5 November 2007) eased concerns on fuel price rise, by assuring that the government was trying to minimise any rise in domestic fuel prices as it decides on moves to stem losses at state oil firms caused by a leap in crude rates. The minister would meet Manmohan Singh again on Wednesday (7 October 2007) to discuss the issue.
The government is yet to raise state-administered retail fuel prices this year even though global oil prices have jumped, topping $96 a barrel in the week ended 3 November 2007.
