BANGALORE, Oct 25 (Reuters) - India's benchmark stock index
extended its gains to 2 percent on Thursday, powered by ICICI
Bank <ICBK.BO> and Tata Steel <TISC.BO> and boosted by short
covering ahead of the monthly futures expiry.
Traders said that the market was also betting on positive
outcome from the market regulator's meeting on tightening rules
for unregistered foreigners.
At 3:04 p.m. (0934 GMT), the benchmark 30-share BSE index
<.BSESN> was up 2.02 percent, or 374.31 points, at 18,887.22,
with 23 components gaining.
The broader 50-issue NSE index <.NSEI> was up 1.91 percent at
5,601.05.
