Poland - Factors to Watch on Sept 10
    WARSAW, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, 
press reports and events to watch which may affect Poland's

    FILAR ON RATE CUTS IN 2009 
    The Polish central bank's Monetary Policy Council may have 
to cut rates next year if the economy slows, its member Dariusz 
Filar was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

    PKN ORLEN MAY SELL ANWIL 
    Poland's largest oil company PKN Orlen <PKNA.WA> may sell 
its chemical unit Anwil as part of the strategy review, Deputy 
Chief Executive Jacek Krawiec was quoted as saying by newspaper 
Puls Biznesu. 
    AGORA TO BUY SUPERSTACJA 
    Poland's largest publisher Agora <AGOD.WA> has agreed to pay 
20 million zlotys ($8.13 million) for one third of small local 
news channel Superstacja and buy the rest of the company in 
three years, newspaper Gazeta Prawna reports without giving 
sources. 
    CEZ PLANS 
    Czech power company CEZ <CEZsp.PR> plans to build 400 MW and 
800 MW power plants in Poland in the next five years and will 
decided on the location of the smaller unit in the first quarter 
of 2009, the head of its Polish unit Petr Ivanek told daily 
Gazeta Prawna. 
    2009 BUDGET 
    Poland's government approved the 2009 budget draft on 
Tuesday, slashing the deficit by almost half and lowering the 
tax burden as the economy heads for a slowdown. [ID:nL9296389] 
    ECONOMIC GROWTH 
    Poland's economic growth may slow to near 4 percent in 2009, 
well below the government's 4.8 percent forecast, a member of 
the central bank's management board said on Tuesday.

    BOND TENDER 
    Poland will offer 1.0 billion zlotys in WS0429 bonds due in 
2029 at a tender at 1000 GMT.
