HSBC Mutual Fund has launched HSBC Unique Opportunities Fund (HUOF), a 3 year close-ended equity fund that aims to capitalise on out-of-ordinary unique opportunities and situations such as: mergers & acquisitions, assets plays, financial restructurings, distressed debt, new product launches and changes in economic policies.
Some unexpected situations like mergers and acquisitions, changes in laws and regulations, financial restructuring of companies, changes in economic policies and the like offer unique investment opportunities in equity markets. Such opportunities are rare, but what's even scarcer is the ability to spot one.
The Fund aims to invest in stocks of companies that have strong fundamentals and growth potential but are either temporarily undervalued or are likely to benefit from unlocking of value from the culmination of out-of-ordinary situations. These situations are usually non-recurring and outside the ordinary course of business.
The New Fund Offer opens on 2 February 2007 and closes on 22 February 2007.
