Mumbai - Sugar futures were trading lower amid continued selling and profit-booking by traders and speculators during the initial hours on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange [NCDEX] Friday. The futures had closed with sharp gains yesterday. Weak prices of sugar and gur at the spot markets across the country have weakened the sentiments for the futures.
NCDEX December-07 sugar opened down Rs two at Rs 1286/quintal. The contract saw movement in the range of Rs 1278 and Rs 1286/quintal. At 10.13 am IST, the contract was trading down Rs eight at Rs 1280/quintal with a volume of 870 tonnes.
January-08 sugar opened steady at Rs 1284/quintal, and fluctuated between Rs 1275 and Rs 1284/quintal. At 10.14 am IST, the sugar contract was down Rs nine at Rs 1275/quintal with a volume of 1810 tonnes.
February-08 sugar opened down Re one at Rs 1249/quintal, and fluctuated between Rs 1246 and Rs 1249/quintal. At 10.16 am IST, the sugar contract was trading down Rs three at Rs 1247/quintal with a volume of 100 tonnes.
