Textile firm Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Company soared 7.70% to Rs 938.35. It stood second among top gainers in A group.
Axis Bank, which is Indias third largest private sector lender by operating income, climbed 7.46% to Rs 1167.45. It was the third biggest gainer in A group. Axis Banks net profit rose 66.2% to Rs 306.83 crore on 58.5% growth in net sales to Rs 2290.24 crore in Q3 December 2007 over Q3 December 2006. The private sector bank unveiled the results on Wednesday, 9 January 2008.

Personal computer maker HCL Infosystems rose 6.45% to Rs 258.45. It was the fifth biggest gainer in A group.
