Meanwhile the BSE Sensex was up 38.09 points or 0.21% to 20,418.52

The stock hit a high of Rs 748 and low of Rs 732 so far during the day.

As per reports, the Rs 1,300-crore GTC Industries is planning to develop properties in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai and Baroda by entering into joint ventures with local developers, but has no plans to sell its land holdings.
It holds 42 acres of land near the airport in Baroda, in Mumbai it has 7.5 acres in Vile Parle and 4.5 acres in Marol. Its other properties are in Raigadh as well as at many places across Andhra Pradesh. Group subsidiaries also have properties in Chennai and Dwarka in Delhi. The report further added that Vile Parle and Marol properties in Mumbai alone are valued at Rs 2,000 crore. The company also has plans to introduce cigarettes with 50% lower toxicity soon.
On 29 October 2007, GTC Industries in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) informed that it had entered into an agreement for the joint development of its properly situated at Hyderabad. The area of land is 2.75 acres out of which the constructed area would be approximately 2.2 lakh square feet. It plans to construct retail mall plus 4 screen multiplex in the area. The entire cost of this development will be borne by the developer and 50% of the built up area will belong to GTC.

A cigarette manufacturer, Golden Tobacco Company, changed its name to GTC Industries in 1985. Its main brands are Panama, Flair, Chancellor, Esquire, Legend (a low tar and nicotine cigarette), Burton, CHL (Chancellor Harward Luxury, premium king-size cigarettes). The company was also the first in India to launch Ms Special Filter, a unique cigarette for women.
