Mumbai A sharp gain in desi chana witnessed at the Lawrence Road market of Delhi backed by aggressive buying from millers and stockiests coupled with sharp gain on National Commodity and Derivative Exchange (NCDEX).
Desi chana arrived from Rajasthan turned up Rs 150 to Rs 2,825-2,850 per quintal. Madhya Pradesh line chana was called to open Rs 125 higher to Rs 2,825 per quintal.
Maharashtra line (Chapa) variety exchanged at Rs 2,900, up Rs 100 per quintal on better buying enquiries from stockiests.
Chana dal wagons and sortex variety surged by Rs 100 to Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,200 per quintal.
Mr. Arun Goyal of Sumitra Trading said, there is good demand in chana dal from the retail segment, coupled with reduced supply, which has pushed up desi chana sharply.
Fresh supply of 50 trucks reported today at the market place.
Desi chana on National Commodity and Derivative Exchange (NCDEX) zoomed amidst speculative buying coupled with lower supply at the trading centers.
The near month March contract hit the 4 per cent of circuit of 2,790 per quintal. Currently trading at Rs 2,782, up Rs 100 per quintal. April contract moved up Rs 94 to Rs 2,839 per quintal. All other contract rose in the range of Rs 92 to Rs 93 per quintal.
