Mumbai - Mentha oil futures recovered some of yesterday's sharp losses and rebounded considerably amid short covering and fresh buying by traders and speculators on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) Thursday. The futures were trading up two per cent during initial hours of trade. Mentha oil futures had gained around 25 per cent during the last 10 days following heavy buying in the market on reports of crop loss.
MCX July mentha oil opened up Rs 7.50 at 734.50/kg, and fluctuated between Rs 734.00 and Rs 748.00/kg. At 11.01 am IST, the contract traded up Rs 15.00 at Rs 741.50/kg with a volume of 358 lots.
Benchmark August mentha oil opened up Rs 8.80 at 750.00/kg, and tossed between Rs 750.00 and Rs 763.40/kg. At 11.03 am IST, the contract traded up Rs 15.50 at Rs 756.70/kg with a volume of 633 lots.
