BOC India has announced that company's project engineering division has won two contracts from Steel Authority of India (Sail) aggregating to Rs 318 crore for setting up of two air separation units at their units - rourkela steel plant and IISCO steel plant. These contracts are to be executed over a period of 2-3 years.
The company made this announcement during the trading hours today, 15 October 2007.
On 19 September 2007, the BOC India said, it would set up a merchant air separation unit in the state of Himachal Pradesh as a part of its growth strategy to penetrate the market in North India.
On 10 August 2007, BOC India received two contracts, one of the orders from GKN Sinter Metals for supplying 420 normal cubic meters (Nm3) of nitrogen per hour to GKN Sinter at its unit located at Pune. The other order from Electrosteel Castings for supplying gas 35 tonnes of oxygen per day at its unit located at Kolkata.
BOC Indias net profit fell 89% to Rs 3.13 crore on a 10.4% decline in sales to Rs 97.78 in Q1 June 2007 over Q1 June 2006.
BOC India is a subsidiary of the BOC Group, UK, which currently holds 55% in the Indian unit. BOC India has two divisions, the gases division and the project engineering division. The gases division contributes about 90% of the companys turnover.
