BANGALORE, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Indian shares opened up 0.6
percent and quickly extended gains to more than 1 percent on
Monday in the final trading session of 2007, led by telecoms firm
Bharti Airtel Ltd <BRTI.BO>.
At 9:57 a.m. (0427 GMT) the main 30-share BSE index <.BSESN>
was up 1.23 percent, or 249.22 points, at 20,456.17, with all but
two components rising.
The 50-issue NSE index <.NSEI> was up 1.16 percent at
6,150.05.
Bharti Airtel opened up 5.2 percent at 990 rupees on the BSE
after the leading mobile operator said on Friday seven overseas
investors, including Temasek and Goldman Sachs <GS.N>, had agreed
to buy up to 9 percent in its tower arm for a total $1 billion.
