PAKISTAN AND NORTH INDIA
SUMMARY- Powerful Tropical Cyclone Sidr has caused major destruction and loss
of life, not to mention severe damage to rice, sugar and other crop areas. No
significant rainfall noted in the region yesterday. Temperatures 64-94F
(18-34C).
FORECAST-
TODAY...No significant rainfall expected. Temperatures 65-96F (18-36C).
TONIGHT...Dry overnight. Patchy haze and smoke.
TOMORROW...Similar conditions to those of today.
OUTLOOK...No significant rainfall expected this period, however it will take
some time for the flooding across far eastern North India and Bangladesh to
recede. Temperatures cooler far north, warm south and west.
INDIA POTATO - North and central India
CROP IMPACT: Much of this region has had normal to above normal Monsoon rains.
This will provide favorable soil moisture and irrigation for the crop. However,
some local areas may be too dry. Temperatures have turned hot since the monsoon
rains tapered off.
